Vintage Italian Silver Angel Cherub Pendant Charm Solid Verrocchio Putti 2.6g

Beautiful vintage Italian silver cherub charm depicting a breath taking Renaissance sculpture ‘Putto With A Dolphin’ by Andrea del Verrocchio (1435–1488), a master of the early Italian Renaissance. The original statue was created around 1465–1470, originally commissioned by Lorenzo de' Medici for the villa at Careggi. 

The cherub is lively in motion and joyfully grasps a twisting dolphin, symbolizing fortune and agility. Mid century origin, this was likely purchased by a traveller or touring soldier of Florence as a memento or token for their sweetheart.
